Shenyang J-11


Shenyang J-11 is the Air Force's fighter plane China (People's Liberation Army Air Force). The aircraft is a licensed version of the Su-27SK Russia.

History

In 1970s, Shenyang Aircraft Factory was proposed design of a light aircraft powered by Rolls-Royce Spey engine 512 from the UK, the plane is similar to a MiG-19 and called the J-11 project was abandoned because of difficulties in getting the machine from the UK .

New J-11 is a licensed product and the development of Russian Su-27SK. Sukhoi originally supplying all parts of the aircraft to Shengyang, based on the 1995 agreement, but as time passes meningkatlah China-made parts in aircraft, aircraft parts are made by China eventually reach 70% of all Su-27 that China ordered by the Air Force (PLAAF). Sukhoi has reportedly approved the upgrade program in 2001 with the radar and avionics of attack is more developed.

In 2004, Russian media reported basic version of the J-11 production was halted after Shengyang produced approximately 100 units, according to sources from China's Air Force base version of Su-27/J-11 is no longer able to meet the needs of PLAAF. PLAAF and then launched a mock-up of the new A-11C version at the end of 2002. J-11C is equipped with anti-ship missiles and air-to-air missile SD-10 made in China, the possibility of a maritime attack missions.

Operation:

PLAAF currently has seven division equipped with J-11, namely:

* PLAAF 1st Air Division based in Anshan, Liaoning, equipped with J-11
* PLAAF 2nd Air Division based at Suxi, Guangdong, equipped with the Su-27SK, Su-27UBK, and J-11
* PLAAF 6th Air Division based in Yinchuan, Ningxia, equipped with J-11
* PLAAF 7th Air Division based in Zhangjiakou, Hebei, equipped with J-11
* PLAAF 14th Air Division based in Zhangshu, Jiangxi, equipped with J-11
* PLAAF 19th Air Division based in Zhengzhou, Henan, equipped with the Su-27SK, Su-27UBK, and J-11
* PLAAF 33rd Air Division based at Baishiyi, Chongqing, equipped with Su-27UBK
